Halloween Pictures 2010

We went with a Batman theme….

The Joker getup from Dark Knight took a little convincing…

Gregory kept saying as I carried him: You still our daddy.  That just mask.  You still our daddy, that just mask.  you still our daddy…

Trout Fishing

Thomas loves fishing in our neighbor’s pond.  He has learned to fight the fish, pulling up on the line, and keeping the tension, I don’t have to do a thing, just cast and hand him the rod.

Shhhhh, We’re Hunting Wabbit.

Boys and Rabbit

017

Going through our pictures, and wanted to share this one...

Jim and I had been practicing with our compound bows in the backyard. Our boys came out to watch and really wanted to go hunt some rabbits... So off we set about our back paddock and were rewarded with finding a rather large rabbit.

Thomas and Damien had no hold backs about picking up the rabbit. In fact, Thomas rushed over and picked it right up without hesitation whatsoever. We are proud… we used to wonder how we would introduce the boys into hunting… we don’t any longer. We got back in, and what were Gregory and Thomas doing on the living room floor? pretending they had just harvested a rabbit and were field dressing it.

A classic moment in the life of boys.

Becca on the other hand, did not appreciate being chased around the yard by her son carrying a rather large rabbit. She stepped out of the house and there was her son, beaming into her eyes with pride, presenting her with a dead rabbit .... Thomas then learned what it means to scream like a girl. Priceless.

OUR FIRST CAMPING TRIP

Jim and I took our boys camping for the first time.  We went up into the Blue Ridge Mountains, saw a bear as we entered the park, pitched our tents roasted smores.  The boys had a night of it and enjoyed pretty much every minute.  As we hoped, they want to do it again… soon.

All I had was my phone camera, but we got some pictures.

You never really know what your kids’ names are going to be at any moment in any given day… except sometimes, you can get a pretty good idea:

Landscapers moved to a town home, felt bad about locking up their shepherd and for some reason thought that our place looked animal friendly, so, here is “Captain”: our new 2 year old German Shepherd:

I am told that he was trained in English.  Let’s hope.

My Jeep isn’t going anywhere anytime soon:

Jeep in the Snow

My neighbor had plowed our drive from the first storm, and I had cleaned it up with the snow blower, down to the gravel… then came the blizzard and blew it all back in… actually, if you look, it was higher in the middle than on the sides.  We have about 20 feet more, but ran out of diesel, guess we’ll get out tomorrow:

Gregory’s Birthday and Snow… Snow… and Snow

Gregory Hppy Eating Cake

Gregory's BDay

Smiling Gregory 2The family all came over to celebrate Gregory’s turning 2.  He was very happy, the cake was devoured, and is now very proud of mastering the new answer to the question, “How old are you?”

Then came the snow:

Not too many pictures of Gregory in the snow, the concept was very exciting, the reality however, was far deeper than he counted on.  He lasted maybe five minutes.

Thomas Buried in the Snow

Thomas on the other hand, was delighted to wade into waist high snow to find his buried snowman.  And to use his hammer and shovel to build an igloo (he hammered it together with imaginary nails), so we could enjoy eating cookies in his igloo.

Becca on the other hand, dedicated to the animals, got right to work shoveling pathways to service the barn, the chicken coop, and from the barn to Cookie’s paddock, while I repeatedly fixed the snow blower as it track came off again and again.  I am now an expert at replacing a snowblower’s track, but have little else to show for it.
